Phillip-Michael Scales (formerly Briar Rabbit) is a gifted songwriter who happens to be the nephew of BB King. His sound fits snuggly between folk and soul; demonstrating his knack for thoughtful, catchy melodies. Whether singing about heartbreak, following dreams, or growing up; his perspective, coupled with his command of language is incredible. It's no surprise in 2013, he won an International Songwriting Award. He is no stranger to touring and has been on the road for the better part of six years opening for such acts as Guster, David Cook, Crystal Bowersox, Tyler Hilton, Jon McLaughlin, Cory Brannan and Kate Voegele. His music has taken him all the way to the Middle East, as well as festivals across the US and Canada.
Nationally acclaimed poet and singer-songwriter, David Blair, wrote, “Audra Kubat is a force of nature; a strong wind that blows past and transcends fads; a flower that's blossomed from coffeehouse gigs into larger theater and festival performances. Audra wears her influences—Joni, Miles, Billie, and Nick Drake like a coat of many colors rewoven into a ‘ruggedly pretty’ and haunting style all her own. It's a talent that's earned her a loyal following, airtime; stellar reviews in local and national press and 10 Detroit Music Awards nominations including a win for Outstanding Folk Artist 2001. Audra's played Detroit's best venues, as well as gigs in galleries and bars from Chicago to New York to Tennessee and back. Forces, by definition, move. Audra's force is centrifugal, spinning out from its singer/songwriter center into a myriad of other talents.”
Emily Rose, born February 12th 1986, is a songwriter and native of Michigan. Her solo career began in the summer of 2005. Emily travels across the country on small scale solo tours when she is not performing locally around Detroit and caring for adorable rabbits. In 2014, she received the award for "Outstanding Acoustic/Folk Artist" at the Detroit Music Awards, as well as in 2009, 2010, and 2013 she was recognized for her songwriting by receiving the award for “Outstanding Acoustic Songwriter”.
Singer-songwriter, Michelle Held's music harnesses all that encompasses the city, from hard-bitten soul to an ethereal grit. Virtually self-taught, she honed her skills at coffee shops and open mics. With appearances at the DIA; TV and Radio spots on WDET, NPR and WXYZ TV20, she has carved out a place in the Detroit music scene. Detroit Metro Times says, "It's her voice that adds the X-factor, that little bit of welcome strange." Her singular voice, razor sharp candor and intricate guitar style honors the past yet owns a timelessness that rings through each song.
